Series II connectors use a bayonet coupling mechanism (¼-turn to mate) instead of the Series III tri-start threaded coupling. Bayonet is faster to connect/disconnect and provides audible/tactile confirmation of proper mating. Series II is popular for field-replaceable equipment where quick disconnect is needed. Nickel-PTFE finish provides excellent corrosion resistance with 500-hour salt spray rating.
